The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for research and development associated with new and modified multilayer capacitor product and manufacturing processes. For this role, there is a requirement for a bias towards materials especially ceramic dielectric formulations. Responsibilities include scale up and transfer to production, together with all relevant documentation.
This position reports to the Director of R&D
Tasks and Responsibilities:
? To participate in new product development and the design of new or modified parts and their transfer to production.
? To work with suppliers on material research and development programs, which may include new or modified materials.
? To work with research establishments and consortiums to develop unique materials, processes and product for use at Knowles.
? To continuously monitor relevant state of the art research, and endeavour to apply as appropriate.
? Manufacture and evaluation of samples as applicable plus generation of associated reports and presentations.
? To provide cost and design information and other relevant support regarding new products and processes.
? To write technical articles and application notes and make technical presentations as relevant to new product introductions.
? To interact and support other members of the Engineering and Quality teams and to interact with customers and other Knowles capacitor group companies as necessary regarding research and development activities and other items as appropriate
? In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Qualification and Skills:
? BS degree or equivalent preferably in Ceramics / Material Science / Chemistry
? Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience of capacitors and capacitor technology or a related field
? Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced workplace
? Self-directed, highly professional and collaborative
? Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
? Strong attention to detail and propensity for accuracy of work product
? Strong analytical and problem solving skills
