Country Health Advisor Job Summary: The Country Health Care Specialist is a doctor retained by Schlumberger to supervise an area of high health risk (location, country, GeoMarket) and who resides and practices medicine preferably in or near the concerned area. His purpose is to provide health support, advice and information to the HSE function and to the SLB Health Advisor. Relationships: - Reports directly to the country HSE manager. - Reports functionally to the SLB Health Advisor. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:1. To be constantly aware of the overall health conditions in the area and to keep the SLB Health Advisor and the location, country, GeoMarket HSE manager informed accordingly. 2. To assist management in the evaluation and recruiting of medical personnel in the region. 3. To provide management with recommended lists of equipment and supplies to be held at each company site. 4. To recommend changes to health standards as needed. 5. To publish health information: ? a monthly report of his activities for the company, ? a Newsletter every 3 months on pertinent health topics, ? a health alert each time it is deemed necessary by epidemics or health risks. 6. To perform regular health audits of company facilities (medics, doctors, clinics) and recommend improvements as necessary and related (contractor catering, drivers) and to provide a clear and concise written summary of his recommendations after each audit. 7. To present to management a yearly evaluation of the overall health situation of the location/ country/GeoMarket employees 8. To participate in the preparation of the medical emergency response plans, verify their effectiveness and if necessary propose improvements. 9. To actively participate in the training of the region medical personnel. 10. To develop a network of relation with: ? Specialized medical centers that can provide expertise, ? medical evacuation companies that can be required, ? other company doctors in order to facilitate and improve treatment and evacuation of emergency cases. 11. To take the medical initiative in case of emergencies or major accidents. 12. To organize and coordinate pre-employment and regular physicals, where legally applicable, for Home Country Employees working in his GeoMarket or country. 13. To assist all employees and medical centers in the Med Check and Med Track programs. 14. To have all the required Schlumberger-provided training (HSE 3, Driving, etc.). 15. To keep abreast of the latest medical developments. Previous Experience and Competencies: An administrative position based in the major city within the country of responsibility. (Can be a doctor or nurse). Must have the following: - A medical doctor's or nurse's degree - Have a working knowledge of the medical network in his/her country - The person in this position is not required to provide hands-on medical treatment of SLB people except in emergency situations. Competencies to be kept current: - Must be practicing medicine/nursing in their country on a regular basis either in their own private facility or in a hospital/clinic. Behavior: - Must be fluent in English - Must have good oral and written communication skills - Must have working knowledge of Outlook or equivalent , internet as well as other computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
