ABOUT THE JOB My responsibility is to increase traffic to our stores in order to gain sales growth. I encourage new customers to shop with us and existing customers to shop more frequently, thereby converting them into loyal, long-term customers. I do this by understanding my Primary Market Area (PMA) and using use this knowledge, together with the national marketing/media strategy to develop a store marketing action and Catalogue distribution plan. This brings the IKEA offer to my local market in ways that will establish IKEA as the leader in life at home and to be the first choice for home furnishings in all core areas of the home. I do this through my passion and understanding of peoples’ life at home, the IKEA Concept and IKEA culture. I use this knowledge to communicate our unique point of difference to the many people: customers, co-workers and consumers YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your tasks will include Consumer/Customer I take ownership for the knowledge of my store’s PMA and understand our local market, demographics, economy, competitors, consumers’ living situations and shopping behaviours. I ensure we use these insights to create a store marketing action plan, including a relevant distribution strategy in order to strengthen our position on the local market and build long-term sales growth and profitability. I work with my store colleagues to ensure that we communicate our total offer in all external media, online and offline, to generate traffic to our store and thereby establishing us as the leader in life at home in our local market. I work with the store team to: o identify our consumer’s home furnishing needs by understanding their aspirations, frustrations and priorities. Promote the IKEA offer so that it is attractive, relevant and affordable for the many people, leading to a broadening of our local customer base. Grow our core customer base and convert more visitors into loyal customers using the IKEA FAMILY and IKEA BUSINESS concepts. Promote IKEA as the good neighbour by working actively with the local communities and nationally identified charitable organisations. I actively promote our social and environmental commitment and work with our local consumers’ to understand how, together, we can contribute to sustainability Commercial My main objective is to increase the number of consumers visiting/revisiting our store as well as convert more visitors into customers in order to increase sales and profitability. My goal is to expand our local home furnishing market share. I do this by: Taking the national communications/media strategy and store business plan and developing a local store marketing action plan, aimed at optimising the business opportunities within my PMA. Agreeing and following up on challenging goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These are based on the volume of store visits, conversion of visitors to customers and the positioning of IKEA in our local market. Working with the store team to create a commercial calendar for our store based on national priorities and local potential in order to achieve our goals and KPIs. Understanding how different consumer groups within our PMA use different media so that I can target our communication more accurately to optimise its effectiveness. Ensuring the strength of each local media channel is maximised and that the total media mix is seamlessly integrated to create one consistent message in our local market. Networking with the national marketing team and my colleagues in other stores to share good ideas and successes and learn from what has worked and what has not. Using our customers’ feedback, IKEA FAMILY database information, store performance and other research data to understand and develop the business potential in our PMA. Analysing the results of our local communication activities and using this knowledge to maximise the impact of IKEA in our local market in the most cost-effective way possible. People Through my own actions, I help create a store environment where the IKEA culture is strong and where the diversity of our customers and co-workers is valued. I secure the training of our store team to ensure they are well-informed about the composition of our PMA and the impact any changes may have on our future business in order to identify commercial opportunities in our market. I create an environment of trust by encouraging open, constructive, honest, two-way feedback with my store team and other colleagues. I work with the local marketing managers in my country, networking with them in order to share good ideas and successes and learn from what has worked and what has not. I build and maintain relations with my external partners and other key groups in my PMA. I am responsible for my own development and look to my manager and my matrix for support in improving my competences. I work with my manager and my matrix to identify and develop my successor. Financial I ensure the store marketing action plan supports the achievement of the agreed goals for our store. I set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on local consumer conversion rates, traffic driving and cost goals. I constantly monitor our performance against agreed goals, adapting and taking action accordingly. I evaluate the return on investment of any local communication initiatives to ensure value for money and the achievement of our stated objectives. I ensure all local marketing initiatives grow our business and support the sustaining of long-term profitability. I control costs by working in a lean, simple, cost-conscious way using good examples and encouraging my colleagues to discover even more effective ways of working.
